Judicial Service to welcome Alka Kharbanda, new High Sheriff of Berkshire, was a truly multi-faith event: presided over by a Christian Reverend and her Hindu Chaplain, led in by Sikh dhol drummers and a reading by Slough Muslim lady activist.
History in the making – she becomes first Black or Asian woman in this post … and to top it off, she was born in the Punjab, while her mother (my good friend) Pushpa is a Slough community stalwart.
