Tan Dhesi MP for Slough
This year Parliament has curated a Constituency Garden of Remembrance, where each MP has been invited to place a tribute to local armed forces personnel, veterans and their families.
Alongside the thousands of Slough constituents past and present who have honourably served our country, I dedicated Slough’s tribute to Private Harold Wilkins. Private Wilkins was a soldier in the 8th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers and was part of the 56th Division that landed in Salerno Italy and tragically was killed on the 24th February 1944 at just 19 years of age.
As Harold’s grave is in Beach Head War Cemetery in Anzio, Italy, I have dedicated my remembrance tribute to him here in Parliament, and to all the remarkable soldiers from Slough like him, that lost their lives defending our nation. This tribute is dedicated to them so we never forget.
