In the South East, 7,600 children are living with around 6,300 foster families, but there is still a need for more foster carers. During Fostering Fortnight, I joined Fostering Network’s campaign to encourage more people to consider fostering a child in need.
Foster carers play such a vital role in our society and I am so grateful to all the foster families here in Slough. However, we still need many more people who think they might have the right skills and experience to consider whether they could become foster carers and change the futures of children and young people who need support at a critical point in their young lives.
It was brilliant to meet foster carers Darren and Ruth, whose tireless work has helped many children and I hope with this campaign even more children are able to be fostered.
